Wednesday night fire damages mobile home, injures firefighter

A Wednesday night fire damaged a mobile home in Calwood and left a firefighter injured.

Central Callaway and North Callaway fire fighters responded to the structural fire at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Central Callaway Fire Chief Greg Luebbert said they had the fire under control in about an hour, but his team worked until about 1:30 a.m. to get the fire completely extinguished.

"It was a persistent fire," Luebbert said Thursday. "The extreme cold hampered fire fighting last night."

One firefighter sprained his ankle while working to put out the fire. Luebbert said when he checked in on the firefighter Thursday, he seemed to be doing fine.

The cause of the fire was still undetermined Thursday afternoon.
