Unbeaten Bulldogs trample Chamois in 72-17 SMC thrashing

MOKANE - After a narrow escape to keep their season record spotless, the South Callaway Bulldogs followed up with a demolition.

South Callaway bolted to a 24-2 lead after one quarter and cruised from there, crushing the Chamois Pirates 72-17 in a Show-Me Conference romp Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs - who held on for a 58-56 non-conference win at North Callaway on Monday night - remained unbeaten at 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the SMC. South Callaway built off its impressive first quarter Tuesday night by expanding its advantage to 40-8 at halftime.

Senior guard Troy Hentges delivered a game-high 14 points to steer three players in double figures for the Bulldogs. Senior forward Jacob Smith and junior guard Logan Taylor added 12 points apiece. Smith also collected a team-high eight rebounds and senior guard Dax Helsel distributed seven assists.

South Callaway's junior varsity stayed perfect on the season at 9-0 with a 23-11 triumph over Chamois in two quarters of play.

The Bulldogs play at Hermann at 6 p.m. Friday.
