Principia hands Blue Jays fourth straight loss

ELSAH, Illinois - The Westminster College Blue Jays shot just 35 percent (22-of-63) as a team in stumbling to their fourth straight loss in Tuesday night's 75-57 SLIAC setback to the Principia College Panthers.

Westminster College trailed 40-24 at halftime and was down by as many as 23 points in the second half, falling to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Principia College picked up its first conference win, improving to 2-7 on the season and 1-4 in the SLIAC.

Senior guard Brandon Moore - who was 6-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range - tallied 16 points to pace the Blue Jays, who ended up with 11 turnovers. Freshman guard Tanner Cochran chipped in with 14 points.

Three players had four rebounds apiece as Westminster was edged on the boards 35-31.

Parker Davidson, who made 10-of-15 shots, answered with a game-high 24 points to spark three players in double figures for the Panthers, who shot a sizzling 54 percent (29-of-54) from the field and had 15 turnovers. Justin Ball provided 19 points and Jeff Ross had 13.

The Blue Jays return home to square off against SLIAC foe Eureka (Illinois) College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
