Mann, Lady Bulldogs move win streak to four

MOKANE - Freshman point guard Adrian Mann's game-high 17 points helped the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs squeak past the Chamois Lady Pirates 37-34 for their fourth victory in a row Tuesday night.

South Callaway (6-2, 3-1 Show-Me Conference) trailed 11-10 after one quarter, but increased its defensive pressure, resulting in Chamois miscues. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Pirates 15-6 in the second quarter to take a 25-17 advantage into halftime.

Chamois slowed the offensive pace of the game after halftime, and South Callaway responded in kind. The Lady Bulldogs preserved the win despite being outscored 17-14 in the second half.

South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey noted that the Lady Bulldogs' willingness to match Chamois' tempo was a key to their victory.

"I think kind of being patient and playing into our offense helped us out a little bit," Humphrey said. "We really slowed the pace down."

Junior guard Kennedy Baker also supplied nine points for South Callaway.

Paige Nolte directed the Lady Pirates with 16 points, while Cheyenne Hemeyer finished with eight.

The Lady Bulldogs continue SMC play at Russellville at 6 p.m. Thursday.
