Kelley, Lady Wildcats post sixth straight victory

ST. ELIZABETH - Sparked by four double-figure scorers, the New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats stretched their winning streak to six games with a 55-36 Show-Me Conference triumph over the St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets on Tuesday night.

Senior forward Ashley Kelley topped New Bloomfield (9-2, 2-0 SMC) with a game-high 17 points.

"She's more confident in her shot this year," Lady Wildcats head coach Brett Craighead said. "She's not worried about making it or not, she just shoots it."

New Bloomfield carried a 23-17 edge into halftime, then outscored St. Elizabeth 19-13 in the third quarter to widen its lead to 42-30.

Senior guard Sydni Bedsworth also supplied 16 points for the Lady Wildcats, highlighted by four 3-pointers.

"She hit some shots," Craighead said. "We were struggling and people who were usually shooting well were struggling, and she just knocked down shots."

Senior forward Taylor Howard and freshman guard Madi Craighead chipped in with 10 points apiece for New Bloomfield.

Freshman center Brooke Struemph paced St. Elizabeth with 10 points, while junior guard Regan Wilde added nine.

New Bloomfield stays on the road for an SMC tilt at Eugene at 6 p.m. Thursday.
