William Woods men drop AMC nailbiter to Lindenwood-Belleville

The Owls current skid dipped to four games with a narrow 69-66 American Midwest Conference loss to the Lynx on Saturday.

William Woods (4-10, 1-5 AMC) trailed 32-30 at halftime, but fell behind by as many as 10 points in the second half.

But the Owls chipped away at that deficit and eventually took a 60-58 lead on senior forward Nate Bitner's 3-pointer with 4 minutes left.

Lindenwood-Belleville (5-7, 3-2 AMC) converted 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch, surviving Owls sophomore guard Ryan Hill's look at a tying 3-pointer at the buzzer to secure the win.

Hill paced William Woods with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Freshman forward Darrien Dickey scored 16 points, while Bitner finished with 11 as the Owls shot 44 percent (25-of-57) from the floor.

Noel Allen totaled game highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds to spark the Lynx. Lawson Warren scored 13 points, while Craig Anderson and Jacobby Anderson had 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Lindenwood-Belleville finished 45 percent (25-of-55) from the floor and outrebounded William Woods 38-32.

The Owls return home for an AMC clash against Harris-Stowe at 7:30 tonight.
