Two bank accounts set up for donations for families affected by recent fire

Two bank accounts have been set up at Central Bank in Fulton for the families affected by a fire just before Christmas. The Quick and Mahnken families shared a home that caught fire just before the holiday.

Red Cross disaster program manager Kath Mayne said the fire "destroyed" the home as well as most of the families' possessions.

The Quick family's grandmother suggested the two families set up bank accounts. The families have been approached by friends asking how they can donate and help out.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so at Central Bank and can specify which family they want to donate to or if they want to donate to both.

The bank accounts will remain open for donations until the family stops receiving contributions to the accounts.

According to a Red Cross press release, volunteers provided food, clothing and shelter to the family just after the fire occurred.

They also gave the family comfort kits filled with personal hygiene items.

The release also stated that the Red Cross is continuing check in on the families' recovery process.
