Westminster women tumble to Spalding in SLIAC play

The Lady Blue Jays went scoreless in the final 2 minutes, 40 seconds of their 91-82 SLIAC overtime loss to the Lady Golden Eagles in Saturday's regular-season finale.

Westminster (17-7, 14-4 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) trailed 40-33 at halftime, but led by five points with 2:20 left in regulation.

Junior guard Mackenzie Haddox connected on two free throws with 3:14 left in the extra session, the final Lady Blue Jay points of the game. Westminster was outscored 13-4 in overtime.

Junior guard Kasey Gatson and sophomore forward Andrea Zalis each paced the Lady Blue Jays with 20 points, Haddox finished with 19 points.

Westminster - the No. 2 seed in the SLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament - will play No. 3 Eureka at 5 p.m. Thursday in Louisville, Kentucky.
