Missouri Department of Conservation to host day with wildlife at Fulton High School

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a day with wildlife from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Fulton High School, located at 1 Hornet Drive in Fulton.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will have activities and opportunities for anyone interested in learning more about the state's mammals and fish.

Joanie Straub, MDC spokesperson, said this event showcases what the department does.

"We help people discover nature in its basic form," Straub said. "By holding this type of event, it gives the public the opportunity to come learn more about Missouri's wildlife."

She added that the event will have hands-on activities that help people discover nature and will answer visitors' questions.

There will be an archery shooting activity for children of all ages, a big bucks exhibit and certified deer antler scores will be present to measure trophy whitetails, according to an MDC press release. The World Bird Sanctuary will present an educational program about raptors at 11 a.m. Saturday.

MDC Conservation agent Bob Lyons stated in the release that this event will be a learning opportunity for those who want to know more about Missouri's wildlife, fish and forest areas.

"Department staff will be available to answer questions about ponds and lakes, trees and forests, and just about any upland game wildlife you can think of," Lyons stated in the release.
