William Woods women roll to AMC victory

Sophomore center Kennedy Volkart led all players with 12 points and eight rebounds in the Lady Owls' 67-39 American Midwest Conference triumph over the Lady Eutectics on Thursday night.

Volkart finished 5-of-10 from the field to help William Woods (19-7, 15-6 AMC) collect its third straight win.

After cruising to a 42-20 halftime lead, the Lady Owls limited STLCOP to just 19 second-half points. William Woods' defense held the Lady Eutectics to just 33 percent shooting (17-of-51), while forcing 19 turnovers.

The Lady Owls got eight points apiece from junior guard Veronica Jones and junior forward Nia Lateju. Junior guard Marissa Webb added six points as William Woods shot 36 percent (28-of-77) from the field.

Emi Santhuff and Lauren Rothemeyer each logged 10 points for the Lady Eutectics (2-20, 2-19 AMC). Rothemeyer led STLCOP with six rebounds as they were outgained on the glass 48-28.

The Lady Owls played Park University in their AMC home finale on Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
