A second-quarter slump tripped up the North Callaway Thunderbirds in their regular-season finale.
The T-Birds were outscored 12-3 in that frame in a 51-32 Eastern Missouri Conference loss to the Bowling Green Bobcats on Friday night.
After trailing 8-4 to start the second quarter, North Callaway (10-15, 5-5 EMO) was in a 20-7 halftime hole.
"It was a really tough shooting night," T-Birds head coach Matt Thomas said. "Our defense played well most of the game, but the shooting hurt us bad tonight."
Senior center Steven Coleman led North Callaway with eight points and grabbed five rebounds. Senior guard Brandon Hagedorn totaled seven points and a team-high four assists, while senior forward Michael Pezold had four points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Cory Buchanan tallied a game-high 19 points for the Bobcats, which clinched the conference regular season title with the win. Adam Holt added 13 points for Bowling Green (22-3, 10-0 EMO).
The T-Birds drew the No. 7 seed in next week's Class 3, District 8 tournament in Mokane. North Callaway plays second-seed and state-ranked California at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
