Fulton girls halt skid with NCMC win at Hannibal

The Lady Hornets snapped a two-game losing skid with their 45-28 North Central Missouri Conference victory over the Lady Pirates on Thursday night.

Junior guard Sloane Totta finished with 13 points, five assists and five steals for Fulton (13-10, 7-3 NCMC).

The Lady Hornets controlled the game from the tip, leading by 10 points after one quarter and carrying a 25-14 cushion into intermission. Fulton's habit of second-half letdowns didn't reemerge as it used a 12-4 third-quarter spurt to garner a 37-18 lead entering the final quarter.

"We've talked about how we need to play with hustle and effort and those are the only things we're going to write on the chalkboard until the start of district play," Lady Hornets head coach TJ Quick said. "We were relaxed, loose and energetic before the tip.

"That's when we're at our best, and that's what we need to get back to."

Fulton junior forward NaShayla Brandt finished with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals as the Lady Hornets finished the season sweep of Hannibal.

Morgan Miller paced the Lady Pirates with five points.

Junior guard Michaela Huff logged a career-high 13 points in Fulton's 40-22 junior varsity loss. The Lady Hornets dropped to 0-13 on the year.

Fulton hosts NCMC foe Moberly in its home finale at 6 p.m. Monday. The Lady Hornets outlasted the Lady Spartans 57-48 on Jan. 30 in Moberly.
