New Bloomfield board of aldermen amend budget, increase net surplus for 2015

At the regular meeting of the New Bloomfield Board of Alderman Thursday, Feb. 12, the board voted to amend the 2015 budget, increasing the total revenue for the year.

The reason for this amendment was the lower cost of insurance for the 2015 year.

In 2014, the cost of insurance was about $14,000, and the cost of the insurance for 2015 year was lower at $12,770. This left the city with more money than projected because of the lower cost of insurance. The aldermen voted to approve the amendment.

Chief of Police Christopher Hammann also gave his report to the board. His report stated that the police department has made 12 traffic stops, has logged 56 hours of service total and has responded to seven different city and 12 different county activities while in service since Jan. 15.

The only new business item on the agenda for the February meeting was a resolution for a Jan. 21 celebration of Cynthia Lynne Schreen's 60th birthday. In this resolution, the board of aldermen recognized Schreen for her "positive, upbeat personality and ability to always persevere through challenging and busy times." They also recognized Schreen's "personal and professional accomplishments" and extended their "hearty congratulations and best wishes" to her.
