South Callaway girls blown out by state-ranked Fatima

The Lady Bulldogs were on the rough end of a 23-4 second-quarter onslaught by the state-ranked Lady Comets in Wednesday night's 61-28 Show-Me Conference loss.

South Callaway (12-9, 6-3 SMC) trailed 15-7 after one quarter before Fatima - ranked No. 5 in Class 3 - erupted. The Lady Comets held a comfortable 38-11 advantage at halftime, then stretched that cushion to 55-22 after the third quarter.

"Defensively, (Fatima) is tough and they got after it," Lady Bulldogs head coach Darren Humphrey said. "We had a little bit of trouble breaking their press just with their overall pressure, and I think that comes from playing Fatima at home."

Freshman point guard Adrian Mann guided South Callaway with 11 points.

Morgan Brandt netted a game-high 21 points to spark Fatima. Kate Massman tallied 11 points.

The Lady Bulldogs (8-3) bowed 44-38 in the junior varsity game. Freshman guards Ashley Potter and Kaci Jordan logged 22 and nine points, respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs played a non-conference game at Belle on Thursday night. Results were not available at press time.
