Kitchen, New Bloomfield boys throttle SMC foe Tuscumbia

Freshman forward Jak Kitchen's career-high 20 points sparked the Wildcats in their 85-25 Show-Me Conference rout of the Lions on Thursday night.

Tuscumbia was forced to play its junior varsity squad due to an over-scheduling issue.

New Bloomfield (12-11, 2-3 SMC) put up 30 points in the first quarter, eventually taking a 59-11 advantage into halftime.

Junior forward Leo Ramirez and junior guard Derek Shikles scored 12 points apiece for the Wildcats, while junior Jacob Brown added 11. Junior guard Brady Wiler posted 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

"I love how we're sharing the ball," New Bloomfield head coach Tim Gilmore said. "We're looking for the extra pass, we're not looking for the first shot we (can) take, which is nice."

Matthew Hill led Tuscumbia with eight points.

The Wildcats travel to Russellville for an SMC game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
