William Woods men slip to No. 4 Freed-Hardeman

Junior DJ Johnson tied the game-high with 20 points as the Owls bowed to the No. 4-ranked Lions 78-62 in American Midwest Conference play on Saturday.

The Owls (9-15, 6-10 AMC) slipped up to Freed-Hardeman 74-53 in the their previous encounter this season on Dec. 16 in Fulton.

William Woods trailed 39-32 at halftime, but faltered after being outscored 39-30 in the second half.

Freshman forward Darrien Dickey added 13 points as the Owls closed the game shooting 41 percent (26-of-64). Johnson pulled in a team-high six rebounds as William Woods was outgained on the glass 30-29.

Cameron Lewis posted 20 points to lead the Tigers (21-2, 16-1 AMC). Isaiah Harrison scored 18 points, while Vincent Dotson and Evan Forhetz each logged 10 as Freed-Hardeman finished at an even 50 percent (27-of-54) from the floor.

Dotson and Harrison each hauled in a game-high eight rebounds.

The Owls host Lindenwood University-Belleville in AMC play at 4 p.m. next Saturday. William Woods fell to the Lynx 69-66 on Jan. 3 in Belleville, Ill.
