North Callaway boys top slide past Silex, finish fifth at Bowling Green Tournament

The No. 7 seed Thunderbirds outscored the No. 4 Owls 14-9 in the fourth quarter of a 45-42 victory in the fifth-place game of the 90th-annual Bowling Green Tournament on Saturday.

North Callaway led 25-21 at halftime, but was outscored 12-6 in the third to fall behind 33-31 entering the final 8 minutes.

Senior guard Brandon Hagedorn paced the T-Birds with 13 points and four assists. Senior center Steven Coleman tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman guard Coy Danison posted 10 points and three rebounds.

Senior forward Michael Pezold added eight points for North Callaway (6-12).

"We handled their pressure better than the game before; we had about half the turnovers that we did in the semifinals," T-Birds head coach Matt Thomas said. "Our press gave them trouble and we got turnovers that resulted in easy baskets for us."

Levi Miller and Cody Mudd logged 13 and 11 points, respectively, for Silex.

The T-Birds play at Tipton at 6 tonight.
