New Bloomfield boys finish seventh at Sturgeon Tournament

Sparked by four double-digit scorers, the seventh-seeded Wildcats outlasted the No. 8 Coyotes 47-43 in the seventh-place game of the 31st-annual Sturgeon Tournament on Saturday.

New Bloomfield (9-9) jumped ahead 18-6 after one quarter, but was outgained 18-6 in the second quarter to go into halftime tied at 24-all.

Paris pulled ahead 38-35 after three quarters, but the Wildcats used a 12-5 scoring edge in the final period to pick up the win.

Freshman forward Jak Kitchens guided New Bloomfield with a game-high 13 points, while junior guard Derek Shikles scored 12. Junior guard Grant Nichols chipped in 11 points and junior forward Leo Ramirez finished with 10.

The Wildcats play at Missouri Military Academy at 6 tonight.
