Cold shooting downs Westminster men against Greenville

The Blue Jays shot just 27 percent from the floor in a 64-51 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to the Panthers on Saturday.

Westminster (3-15, 2-9 SLIAC) connected on 17-of-63 field goal attempts in losing for a ninth time in its last 10 outings.

Greenville (10-8, 7-4 SLIAC) held a 26-24 edge at halftime, but secured the win with a 38-27 second-half scoring advantage. The Panthers converted 38 percent (24-of-63) from the field, while outrebounding the Blue Jays 50-36.

Sophomore forward Tanner Gentges led Westminster with 15 points. Senior guard Verdis Lee Jr. - a Fulton graduate - finished with 10 points, while junior guard Brandon Drum collected a team-high seven rebounds.

Brian Ehresman sparked Greenville with a game-high 20 points, while forward Tim Daniel added 11. Nick Trisko scored 10 points off the bench and Andrew Scott led all players with eight rebounds.

The Blue Jays host SLIAC foe Iowa Wesleyan at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Westminster fell to the Tigers 72-60 on Jan. 14 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
