LADDONIA - The North Callaway Ladybirds logged their second straight Eastern Missouri Conference road victory of the week by outscoring the Community R-6 Lady Trojans 14-9 in the fourth quarter of Friday night's 55-50 win.
North Callaway (2-5, 2-0 EMO) outscored Community 17-8 in the second quarter and went into the break with a 30-18 advantage. The Lady Trojans, though, scrambled back by outscoring the Ladybirds 23-11 in the third quarter to pull even at 41-all.
North Callaway then gained the upper hand over the final 8 minutes.
"We settled down and found our aggressive side on defense once again," Ladybirds head coach Matt Miller said. "We also made better decisions with the basketball."
Senior guard Maddie Ausfahl delivered 15 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead two players in double figures for North Callaway. Senior center Bethany Bloss supplied 11 points, while sophomore guard Kyla Bertschinger had nine points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Alissa Curtis logged a game-high 20 points for Community (5-2, 1-2) and Samm Jett contributed 15.
North Callaway hosts four games with Southern Boone starting at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28. The junior varsity girls tip off first, followed by the junior varsity boys, varsity girls and varsity boys.
