Percy, Eagles fall in opener to Wildcats' JV

Junior forward Scotty Percy tallied 16 points to guide the host Missouri School for the Deaf Eagles in Tuesday night's 49-35 season-opening setback to the New Bloomfield Wildcats' junior varsity.

Percy was responsible for almost half of MSD's output as he finished 8-of-9 from the field.

"Scotty's strong inside," Eagles head coach Dick Keller said. "He's not tall - he's 5-(foot)-11, but he gets good position, pulls down rebounds and then goes right back up with it."

Junior guard Ste'Quan Scott contributed nine points for MSD, which was in front 22-20 at halftime but was outscored by New Bloomfield 29-13 in the second half.

"We just could not get into our offense," Keller said.

The Eagles return from the holiday break for a contest at Higbee at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.
