Owls set 3-point mark in manhandling Haskell

The surging William Woods University Owls knocked down a school-record 16 3-pointers in picking up their fourth straight victory with Tuesday night's 91-75 win over the Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) University Indians at Anderson Arena.

Junior forward Bryan DeGeare was perfect from the field, tallying a game-high 19 points to direct four players in double figures for William Woods University (5-3). DeGeare made 7-of-7 shots - including all five attempts from 3-point range - as the Owls shot 57 percent (31-of-54) overall and a sizzling 70 percent (16-of-23) from behind the arc.

Junior forward Trey Mitchell had a pair of 3-pointers in following with 16 points for William Woods, while senior guard Kevin House - who was 4-of-5 from behind the arc - contributed 14 points. Junior guard Deon Pettigrew also hit two 3-pointers to finish with 13 points.

Pettigrew pulled down a team-high six rebounds as the Owls were outrebounded by a 34-28 margin.

Wilber Everett and Ralston Moore shared team scoring honors with 16 points apiece for Haskell Indian Nations University (2-7). Tsalidi Sequoyah was next with 12 points and Duelle Gore contributed 11 as the Indians shot 46 percent (32-of-69) as a team.

William Woods returns to American Midwest Conference play with a trip to St. Louis to face Missouri Baptist University at 7:30 tonight. The Owls are 2-0 in the AMC.
