Mann, Lady Bulldogs prevail in opener at Van-Far

VANDALIA - Sophomore forward Adrian Mann logged a game-high 14 points in the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs' 51-23 season-opening romp over the Van-Far Lady Indians on Tuesday night.

South Callaway built a 19-6 lead after one quarter and then outscored Van-Far 12-7 in the second quarter to push its advantage to 31-13 at halftime.

Junior forward Nicole Horstman and sophomore guard Kaci Jordan added nine points apiece for the Lady Bulldogs. Junior center Konnor Arrowood registered eight points.

"I was extremely proud of the way our ladies played," South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey said. "They showed patience on offense and, defensively, forced numerous turnovers because of their intensity.

"Being the first game of the year, I think we found some things we could work on, but as a whole, you have to be happy with their performance."

Jordan Garner finished with a team-high 13 points for Van-Far.

The Lady Bulldogs play their home opener against Montgomery County at 6 p.m. Monday.
