Lady Hornets tennis team falls to Moberly in NCMC opener

The Fulton Lady Hornets tennis team bowed to the Moberly Lady Spartans 9-0 to open North Central Missouri Conference play Thursday night at the high school athletic complex.

Here are singles and doubles results:

No. 1 singles: Colette Faiella (M) defeated freshman Mary Schnoebelen (F), 10-6; No. 2: Kati Dawkins (M) def. junior Addie Zimmer (F), 10-2; No. 3: Eden Rampton (M) def. sophomore Laura Bailey (F), 10-3; No. 4: Melody Huff (M) def. junior Elizabeth Barbour (F), 10-2; No. 5: Maddie Smith (M) def. junior Erin Latham, (F) 10-2; No. 6: Hannah Finnell (M) def. sophomore Jenna Young (F), 10-4.

No. 1 doubles: Faiella/Dawkins (M) def. Schnoebelen/Barbour (F), 10-5; No. 2: Huff/Finnell (M) def. Zimmer/Bailey (F), 10-8; No. 3: Fulton forfeited due to injury default.

"We changed the doubles lineup to shake things up a bit and saw much more positive results," Fulton head coach Louis Schnoebelen said.

The Lady Hornets dropped a 7-2 decision at (Columbia) Battle last Tuesday. Mary Schnoebelen and Zimmer logged wins at Nos. 1 and 3 singles, respectively.

Fulton (0-3) competed in the Boonville Tournament on Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
