Ladybirds volleyball team stumbles at Southern Boone

ASHLAND - The North Callaway Ladybirds volleyball team split its nine kills between four players in Tuesday night's 25-17, 25-12 loss to the Southern Boone Lady Eagles.

North Callaway (0-2) received a team-high three kills from senior outside hitter Bethany Bloss, while senior middle hitter Destri Eichman, sophomore outside hitter Nicole Emmons and junior middle hitter Colleen Meffert each supplied two.

Emmons topped the Ladybirds with 13 digs. Eichman added 11 digs and led North Callaway with four blocks. Meffert had nine digs and two blocks, while Bloss totaled seven digs.

"Things were clicking and they played more to their potential tonight, for sure," Ladybirds head coach Liz Gragnani said. "There was more communication on the floor and more teamwork."

North Callaway dropped the junior varsity match 25-11 and 25-7.

The Ladybirds start Eastern Missouri Conference play at Montgomery County at 5:30 p.m. today.
