JC woman in custody after early morning car chase

On Tuesday at just before 1:30 a.m., Jefferson City police attempted to stop the driver of a vehicle who was known to have a municipal warrant for her arrest.

The driver failed to yield to police at Missouri Boulevard and Dix Road and subsequently a pursuit began.

JCPD officers pursued the driver, Danna Peters, a 31year-old Jefferson City female, to U.S. 50, then on U.S. 54 into Callaway County.

After the pursuit was joined by the Callaway County Sheriff's Department, it continued along various locations in Callaway County, then back onto 54 onto Route J. At that intersection, additional Callaway deputies and Missouri Highway Patrol troopers were in position, and those agencies took up the pursuit while JCPD terminated their involvement.

The pursuit continued into Boone County and eventually terminated after Peters ran off the roadway and was apprehended by MSHP troopers.

Peters was arrested for fail to yield to an emergency vehicle, careless and imprudent driving, felonious resisting arrest and a city warrant. She is currently in the Cole County Jail pending charges, and is also facing various traffic charges in Callaway County.
