Westminster volleyball team adds trio of freshmen to roster

Westminster College head volleyball coach Curtis Madson has announced the addition of three freshmen - outside hitters Micha Frasher and Nikki Testerman, and defensive specialist Bridget Ringwald - to the Lady Blue Jays' 2015 roster.

Madson is entering his third season at Westminster, which went 17-14 overall in 2014 and 14-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Frasher was a four-year varsity player at Leavenworth (Kansas) High School and was named to the all-Sunflower League team once. Ringwald helped guide Cor Jesu Academy in St. Louis to a Class 4 quarterfinal appearance last year. Testerman - out of Oak Ridge High School in Spring, Texas - won silver and bronze medals at the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals during her prep career.

"... My hope is with the additions we are making this season, we can get over the hump and find ourselves competing in the conference final this season," Madson said. "I feel this (freshman) class, though not large in numbers, is very deep in talent.

"This class has pieces that will push our existing players, and make an impact on day one. That is the only way to continue improving."

The Lady Blue Jays open their 2015 season Sept. 1 at Stephens College in Columbia.
