Westminster chosen fourth in UMAC football poll

The Westminster College Blue Jays football team is hoping to be better than middle of the pack.

Westminster was picked to finish fourth out of 10 teams in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference's 2015 coaches' preseason poll released Wednesday. The Blue Jays received 54 points.

Westminster finished 6-4 overall in 2014 and tied for fourth place in the UMAC with a 6-3 record.

Defending UMAC champion College of St. Scholastica was selected to capture its second straight conference title. The Saints earned eight first-place votes and 80 points in the poll. University of Northwestern (one first-place vote, 70 points) was chosen to finish second and Greenville College (one first-place vote, 69 points) was picked third.

The Blue Jays kick off their 2015 season Sept. 5 against Southwestern Assemblies in Waxahachie, Texas. Westminster plays its home and UMAC opener Sept. 12 against Iowa Wesleyan University.
