EUGENE - The South Callaway Bulldogs golf team came in second and the New Bloomfield Wildcats were a close third at the Show-Me Conference championships Wednesday at Redfield Golf Course.
South Callaway posted a 358 team score and New Bloomfield was four shots back with a 362. Fatima picked up the SMC team title with a 349, while Eugene was fourth (372), Russellville fifth (413), and Linn sixth (422).
"I'm really pleased with the way the season has gone and how the boys have played," South Callaway head coach Greg Buschjost said.
Bulldogs junior Logan Taylor and Wildcats sophomore Gannon Withers shared second place individually with a pair of 82s, while South Callaway sophomore Blake Parker tied for fourth with an 85. New Bloomfield sophomore Ridge Martin - scoring under 90 for the first time on 18 holes - tied for eighth with an 87.
"It was good to see Gannon and Ridge shoot some good scores," Wildcats head coach Aaron Murphy said. "This should be a good confidence boost for them."
Senior Tyler Grace also provided a 96 for New Bloomfield and junior Grant Nichols shot a 97.
The Wildcats compete in Hallsville's quad meet at 4 p.m. today at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly.
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, will return to Redfield for the Class 2, District 4 championships at 9 a.m. Monday. South Callaway will compete against Eugene, Belle, Blair Oaks, California, Father Tolton, Fatima, Hermann, Southern Boone, Versailles and Wright City.
