The Thunderbirds were limited to five hits and the Trojans established control behind a five-run outburst in the bottom of the third inning of Tuesday night's 7-2 EMO matchup.
Community R-6 tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth, improving to 9-4 on the season and 4-3 in the Eastern Missouri Conference. North Callaway tallied its runs in the fourth and sixth, falling to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
Senior left fielder Cole Branson was 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the sixth for the Thunderbirds, while sophomore shortstop J.T. Higgins went 2-for-4. Sophomore center fielder Alex Brazil also went 1-for-2.
Senior starter Brandon Hagedorn took the loss for North Callaway, giving up six earned runs on only five hits in five innings. Hagedorn (1-5) logged five strikeouts and issued three walks.
The Thunderbirds return home to square off against EMO foe Silex at 5 p.m. Thursday.
