Lady Bulldogs place fifth at Owensville Relays

The South Callaway girls' track team racked up 73.33 points in collecting fifth place at the Owensville Relay last Friday.

Fatima and Sullivan each tallied 101 to tie for first, while Montgomery County (87.5) and Rolla (77.33) rounded out the girls' top five.

The South Callaway boys scored 27 points to finish in 10th place.

Lady Bulldog seniors Hannah Oberdiek and Sarah Jennings finished 1-2 in the long jump. Oberdiek posted a winning jump of 17 feet, 2 inches, while Jennings was the runner-up with a leap of 16-8.

Jennings also finished second in the high jump, clearing the bar in 4-10. Freshman Adrian Mann finished second in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 3.43 seconds.

Senior Kailey Brooks ran a :52.76 to finish third in the 300 hurdles, while Oberdiek took fourth in the 100 in :14.26. Mann (2:35.44) and Brooks (:19.02) both added sixth-place finishes in the 800 and the 100 hurdles, respectively.

Jennings, Mann, Oberdiek and senior Alexis Wetherell garnered second in the 400 relay with a time of :52.54. Brooks, Wetherell and freshemen Kaci Jordan and Ashley Potter earned third in the 800 relay with a time of 1:57.38.

Brooks, Mann, Potter and Wetherell placed sixth in the 1,600 relay in 4:29.61.

Junior Haley Pate, sophomores Caitlyn Chapman and Josie Mealy and freshman Greta Cross took sixth in the 3,200 relay with a time of 11:58.28.

Senior Jacob Smith logged the only win for the South Callaway boys, taking top honors in the javelin with a throw of 123-04. Sophomore Bennett Hager was second in the pole vault (12 even) and senior Terry Milers was third in the 800 at 2:07.3.

Miles was sixth in the triple jump in 39-1/2, while senior Phillip Norris picked up sixth in the javelin at 101-01.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs return home to host their own South Callaway Relays at 4 p.m. Friday.
