South Callaway stuffs Southern Boone in five-inning win

The Bulldogs broke out for seven runs in the top of the first inning and capitalized on the Eagles' nine total errors in breezing to the 10-0, five-inning romp Friday night.

South Callaway raised its season record to 12-2 and got back on track after managing just six hits and committing four errors in a 7-1 loss to Father Tolton in Columbia on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs were helped by four Southern Boone errors in the first Friday night, while senior third baseman Trevor Miller delivered an RBI double and senior center fielder Cory Hanger had an RBI single in the inning. South Callaway came up with its other three runs in the third.

Junior right fielder Dillon Stone finished 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice as the Bulldogs made the most of only five hits. Miller was also 1-for-2 with two runs scored, while Hanger went 1-for-3 with two RBI, scored two times and had two stolen bases.

Freshman starter Kaden Helsel went the distance to collect the shutout victory for South Callaway. Helsel scattered five hits, issued two walks and struck out one.

The Bulldogs travel to North Callaway at 5 p.m. Monday.
