The Super Sam Foundation, a local organization that donated to childhood cancer research, held its first 5K and kids' mile on Saturday at McIntire Elementary School.

The foundation was created in honor of "Super" Sam Santhuff, a 6-year-old Fulton boy who battled cancer for 13 months before passing in September. To further his mission of helping all children facing life-altering illnesses, the organization was formed by his family, friends and supporters.

Saturday's event attracted about 200 people. Because sponsors donated everything necessary for the race, all proceeds from the 5K event will go to foundation - which will then help fund childhood cancer research and its comfort pack program for children battling illnesses.
