T-Birds, Ladybirds both place sixth at Montgomery County

Senior Steven Coleman locked up victories in the 100 and 200 meters, as well as the 110 and 300 hurdles to pace the North Callaway boys to a sixth-place finish at the Montgomery County Invitational on Monday.

Meanwhile, juniors Skylar Schmauch and Erinn Bush came in third in the 1,600 and shot put, respectively, as the North Callaway girls also took sixth overall.

Coleman triumphed in the 100 and 200 with respective times of 11.87 and 23.30 seconds to help the Thunderbirds amass 79 points. He prevailed in the 110 and 300 hurdles in :15.36 and :42.16, respectively.

Sophomore teammate Levi Gilman came in second behind Coleman in the 110 hurdles (:16.88). Junior Manzell Payne was fourth in the triple jump (37 feet, 8 1/4 inches) and fifth in the high jump (5-8).

North Callaway's 400 relay finished second in :48.84, while the 800 relay placed fifth in 1:43.92. Junior William Crawford and freshman D'Anthony Kemp logged respective seventh-place finishes in the 400 (:58.19) and long jump (17-7 3/4).

Schmauch took third in the 3,200 in 13:33.20 and Bush came in third in the shot with a throw of 29-2 3/4 as the Ladybirds totalled 47 points. Bush also finished fifth in the discus (91-9).

Freshman Reyna Schmauch added a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 800 (2:44.14) and 1,600 (6:09.62). Sophomore Nichole Kelly tied for fifth in the high jump (4-6) and freshman Nicole Emmons came in seventh in the discus (86-1 1/4).

Sophomore Jaclyn McMurtry finished seventh in the 200 (:30.70), while freshman Kyla Bertschinger placed eighth in the long jump (13-8 1/4). North Callaway's 800 relay took second (2:01.73), the 1,600 relay came in sixth (4:53.29), and the 400 relay finished seventh (1:00.82).

Bowling Green secured the boys' team title with 134 points and Montgomery County captured the girls' championship with 137.

North Callaway competes at California at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28.
