Westminster notches six top-five finishers at Allgood Invitational

Four Blue Jays earned top-five accolades, while the Westminster women picked up two top-five finishes at the Missouri S&T Dewey Allgood Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Bret Robertson took up runner-up recognition in the men's javelin with a toss of 51.97 meters. The effort earned him St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Freshman Logan Shoemaker took third in the shot put with a throw of 13.34.

Freshman Glenn Teubner earned fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes, 39.85 seconds. Junior Jesse Edwards also clocked a fifth-place showing, finishing the 5,000 in 16:24.35.

Junior Brier Skogsberg took third in the women's 5,000 with a final time of 19:18.18. The women's 1,600 relay quartet of seniors Nyima Njie, Danielle Smulczenski, and freshmen Taylor Howard (South Callaway) and Marla Rains placed third with a school-record time of 4:10.89.

Both teams will run at the SLIAC Invitational at 10 a.m. this Saturday.
