Westminster completes SLIAC sweep at Spalding

The Lady Blue Jays snapped a six-game skid with a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference twinbill sweep of the Golden Eagles on Saturday.

Sophomore Alyson Hahn went the distance and struck out eight in Westminster's 5-3 victory in the second game. Hahn (10-9) walked one and allowed three earned runs on five hits.

The Lady Blue Jays (12-19, 9-7 SLIAC) moved in front 3-2 in the top of the third inning on sophomore catcher Alyssa Johnson's RBI single to right to drive in freshman first baseman Abby Bartley (South Callaway).

Freshman left fielder Amber Tepen doubled in another Westminster run in the fourth, while sophomore third baseman Anne Baker scored after Hahn reached on an error in the fifth.

Tepen was 3-for-4 to pace the Lady Blue Jays' 13-hit assault. Baker and Johnson both went 2-for-4, as did sophomore center fielder Allison Biggs and freshman right fielder Kim Morrison.

Sophomore second baseman Kelsi Hill was 2-for-5.

Westminster racked up 12 hits in shutting out Spalding (11-17, 8-6 SLIAC) 5-0 in the opener. Hahn surrendered just one hit, no walks and fanned five to complete the shutout.
