Owls' Cook, Zink claim top two spots in 400 at Mule Relays

William Woods University junior Rhett Cook won the men's400 meters and senior Nick Zink finished second at the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays on Friday.

Cook clocked a winning time of 48.54 seconds, while Zink finished in :48.86.

Junior Gabriel Dos Santos earned fourth place in the 100 with a time of :11.04. Cook, Zink and freshmen Denver Horn and Daniel Lantz claimed fifth place in the 1,600 relay in 3:20.06.

Freshman Grace Young ran a personal best of 18:38.53 to win the women's 5,000. Freshman Jami Brandow was the runner up, clocking a personal best of 18:46.58.

Freshman Hannah Rutherford posted a personal best of 2:28.26 to place second in the 800.

Freshman Alliah McClendon eclipsed the NAIA "B" standard in the 100 hurdles for a second time this season, finishing fourth with a personal-best time of :14.96. She claimed fifth in the 100 in :12.64.

William Woods competes in the American Midwest Conference championships on May 2 in Greenville, Illinois.
