Fulton's Pani logs win at McCush Relays

Lady Hornets freshman Kate Pani prevailed in the girls' long jump - Fulton's only first-place finish - at the McCush Relays on Friday.

Pani jumped 15 feet, 9 3/4 inches to take first place. Junior teammate Rachel Guse' garnered third place with a leap of 14-5.

Guse' was second in the 800 run with a time of 2 minutes, 38.72 seconds. Junior Madi Tobias took second in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-8.

Pani finished third in the 100 in :13.34 and freshman Sierra Bickel placed fourth in the 100 hurdles (:17.81). The Lady Hornets' 400 relay team garnered third place in :54.5.

Senior Sam Christensen nabbed runner-up showings in both the 110 hurdles and high jump to spark the Fulton boys. Christensen clocked a time of :15.53 in the 110 hurdles, then recorded a leap of 6-2 in the high jump.

Freshman Mason Gaines ran the 1,600 in 4:56.46 to claim third place. Sophomore Tanner Steffen clocked a :45.68 to earn fourth in the 300 hurdles, while senior Noah Braun finished fourth in the pole vault (11-6).

Senior Noah Given (19-2) and junior Travis Dean (19-0) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the long jump. Sophomore Jared Eliuk earned fifth in the 400 (:54.5), while sophomore Brandon Dews also had a fifth-place finish in the 800 (2:20.59).

The Hornets' 3,200 relay came in third in 9:25.74. Fulton finished fourth in the 800 relay (1:36.87) and took fifth in the 1,600 relay (3:52.9).

Fulton competes at the Ron Whittaker Bulldog Classic in Mexico at 9 a.m. Saturday.
