Fulton police arrest man in stabbing incident

Fulton Police responded to 511 E. Eighth Street at 8:53 a.m. Friday after receiving a report that a woman had been stabbed.

When they arrived on scene, two police officers discovered the victim was suffering from two non-life threatening stab wounds, according to a Fulton police. She was transported to a Columbia hospital for treatment by paramedics.

The suspect hid four knives in a wooded area north of the crime scene before fleeing. Officers eventually tracked down the alleged suspect, James Edward Russell Jr., at the 300 block of Douglas Boulevard and took him into custody. Russell had a parole absconder warrant with no bond along with a Platte County warrant for larceny with a $500 cash-only bond.

Russell was arrested for first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with evidence. His bond is set at $40,000 cash only.
