Auxvasse issues boil advisory for Monday

Starting Monday after 12 p.m., the city of Auxvasse will be under a water boil advisory, according to a press release from the city.

The press release states that the advisory will be lifted after "water sample results indicate that no contaminations are present." As a part of its water improvement project that started in November, construction on Monday will cut off water from the certain streets for about two hours to transfer some of the old water system to the new water system.

The streets affected will be on the entire east and northeast side of Main Street, starting from Chestnut Street and moving north to the end of of North Callaway Mobile Manor. This includes:

•Kingdom Telephone Company;

•Chestnut Street;

•All of East Walnut Street;

•All of East Harrison Street;

•All of Prairie Street;

•All of Pine Street;

•North Callaway County Apartments (Senior Center Drive);

•All of Love, Joy, Peace and David Street;

•North Callaway Mobile Manor;

•North and South Mary Street;

•Oak Street;

•Elm Street;

•Ann Street;

•Auxvasse Elementary School;

•Morgan Street;

•KD Drive; and

•Industrial Park.

Anyone affected by the boil advisory should follow the following precautions, according to the release:

•Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use for cooking or drinking;

•Disinfect food contact surfaces (dishes) by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water;

•Dispose of ice cubes and remake with water that has been boiled;

•Continue boiling all water that is to be used for cooking or drinking until the cause of the contamination has been found and corrected;

•Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled; and

•Let water cool sufficiently before drinking..
