Bulldogs, Wildcats log top-10 team finishes at Southern Boone

New Bloomfield sophomore Gannon Withers and South Callaway junior Logan Taylor each posted top-15 individual scores to medal at the eighth-annual Southern Boone Golf Classic on Wednesday at Eagle Knoll Golf Club.

Withers shot an 82 to claim sixth place, while Taylor tallied an 83, good enough for ninth place.

The Bulldogs placed sixth with a team total of 372, while New Bloomfield notched a 381 to place ninth. Fulton (429) earned 11th place and North Callaway added a 496 to come in 16th place.

Blair Oaks' Tanner Elder shot a 74 to finish first individually. Mexico won the team title with a score of 324.

South Callaway sophomore Blake Parker finished 21st with an 89, while sophomore Braeden Sconce tallied a 31st-place score of 94. Seniors Luke Horstman (106) and Jacob Smith (112) earned 47th and 59th, respectively, to round out the Bulldog scorers.

Senior Tyler Grace claimed 17th place with an 87 for the Wildcats and senior Ridge Martin posted a 107 to finish 50th. Juniors Derek Shikles (105) and Grant Nichols (119) placed 42nd and 65th, respectively, for New Bloomfield.

Sophomore Issac Franklin paced the Hornets with a 39th-place score of 100. Junior Jake Hammerstone took 46th with a 106, while senior Matt Henry shot a 107 to earn 49th. Senior Hunter Bethell earned 62nd with a 116, while senior Austin Wilson placed 79th, totaling a 137.

Freshman Ryan Weber led the Thunderbirds with a 105 to finish 41st. Senior Justin Strafford (123) took 68th, while freshman Tyler Sommer (132) and junior Chris Vaught (136) earned 75th and 78th, respectively.

Fulton hosts Eugene and Russellville in a triangular at 4 p.m. today at Tanglewood Golf Course. South Callaway plays at the Centralia Invitational at 9 a.m. Monday.

The Wildcats will golf at the Helias Invitational at 9 a.m. Monday at Meadow Lake Golf Club. North Callaway competes at the Wright City Quad at 3:30 p.m. Monday.
