Bulldogs place first, Lady Bulldogs second at Show-Me Conference meet

South Callaway seniors Mason Shoemaker won three events and Cory Hanger logged a pair of individual victories to power the Bulldogs to a team title at the Show-Me Conference Championships on Wednesday.

Shoemaker won the 100 and 200-meter dashes and the long jump, while Hanger prevailed in the 400 and the triple jump in to vault South Callaway to 155 points.

Senior Sarah Jennings captured both the girls' high jump and triple jump and senior Hannah Oberdiek triumphed in the long jump to lead the Lady Bulldogs (141) to a second-place showing.

The New Bloomfield Wildcats (45) earned seventh place, while the Lady Wildcats (28) garnered eighth in their respective team standings.

Shoemaker topped the field in the 100 with a final time of 11.43 seconds, and won the 200 in :23.74. South Callaway junior Ajay Cave finished fifth in the 100 with a time of :12.09.

Shoemaker prevailed in the long jump with a winning bound of 19 feet, 2 inches. New Bloomfield sophomore Zane Culwell placed fourth in 18-2.

Hanger clocked a :53.32 in the 400, while senior teammate Terry Miles (:53.89) and Culwell (:55.95) placed third and fourth, respectively.

Hanger was victorious in the triple jump with a leap of 38-4 3/4. Bulldogs senior Caleb Sconce took fourth with a jump of 38-1/4 and also was fourth in the 110 hurdles in a time of :19.98.

Miles won the high jump with a leap of 5-10 and South Callaway junior Brandon Ward finished fifth with a 5-6

South Callaway freshman Austin Meyer (2:20.29) finished fifth in the 800, while Wildcats junior Charlie Schattgen finished fifth in the 3,200 with a time of 11:16.75.

Wildcats junior Leo Ramirez placed third in the shot put (38-6), while Bulldogs senior Dylan Hare took fifth in 36 even. South Callaway freshman Hunter Schroer (105 even) and senior Phillip Norris (103-1) took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the discus.

The Bulldogs' 400 relay quartet of Cave, Hare, Hanger and Shoemaker posted a winning time of :45.37, while New Bloomfield's foursome of sophomore Bradley Roddy and freshmen Jak Kitchens, Bradley Roddy and Clay Walker took fifth in :49.73.

The team of Ward, Miles, Hanger and Connor Stupperich won the 1,600 relay in 3:40.05. Payton Culwell, Zane Culwell, Roddy and freshman Kyle Emerson earned fifth in 3:49.32.

Cave, Ward, and freshmen Kaden Helsel and Dalton Stone placed third in the 800 relay with a time of 1:40.26.

Emerson, Schattgen, Payton Culwell and junior Christian Eickhorst earned fourth in the 3,200 (9:20.99), while Stupperich, Jared Stieferman, Levi Mealy and Austin Meyer placed fifth in 9:58.08.

Jennings cleared the high-jump bar at 5 feet even, while Lady Wildcats sophomore Baylee Garrett (4-8) and Lady Bulldogs freshman Ashley Potter (4-8) took third and fourth, respectively.

Jennings notched a 34-3/4 in the triple jump, while freshman teammate Kaci Jordan jumped a 30-1/2. Oberdiek won the long jump in 17-4 1/4, while Jennings earned third in 15-10 1/2.

Oberdiek finished fourth in both the 100 (:13.43) and the 200 (:27.02), while Jennings added a fifth-place time of :13.71 in the 100.

Lady Wildcats sophomore Kate Baxter won the 300 hurdles with a run of :52.82. South Callaway senior Kailey Brooks was second in the 100 hurdles (:18.27), while junior teammate Taylor Nichols (:18.51) took third.

Freshman Adrian Mann posted third-place showings in the 800 (2:37.64) and the 1,600 (5:50.56). Junior Dariyn Finney also ran the 1,600, clocking a fifth-place time of 6:23.38.

Nichols, Jordan, Potter and Brooks placed second in the 400 relay (:55.35). The Lady Bulldogs' quartet of Jordan, Mann, Oberdiek and freshman Haley Pate took third in the 800 relay at 1:56.62.

Brooks, Jordan, Pate and sophomore Josie Mealy clocked a 4:51.09 to earn fourth in the 1,600 relay. Baxter, senior Sakie Namiki and freshmen Madi Craighead and McKenna Rackers followed with a fifth-place time of 4:56.84.

Pate, Mealy, and sophomores Caitlyn Chapman and Kallie Guthrie placed fourth in the 3,200 relay with a time of 12:05.55.

New Bloomfield participates in the Southern Boone Relays at 2 p.m. today. South Callaway competes at Owensville at 4 p.m. Friday, April 24.
