Bulldogs hand head football job to Hess

Zack Hess was officially named the new head coach of the South Callaway Bulldogs football team on Thursday morning.

Hess takes over for Tim Rulo, who was named the head coach at Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City in March after seven years at the helm for the Bulldogs.

Hess - who becomes the fourth head football coach in South Callaway history - was an assistant under Rulo for the past five years, spending the last two as the Bulldogs' defensive coordinator.

Under Hess, South Callaway yielded just 7.2 points per game on its way to a Class 2 runner-up finish in 2014.
