Principia shuts out Lady Blue Jays tennis team

ELSAH, Illinois - The Westminster College Lady Blue Jays tennis team remained winless in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at 0-3 after being blanked by the Principia College Lady Panthers on Tuesday.

Westminster College tumbled to 1-5 on the season, while Principia College improved to 5-10 overall and 3-0 in the SLIAC.

Here are Tuesday's singles and doubles results:

•No. 1 singles: Hanne Anderson (PC) defeated junior Jessica Klutts (WC), 6-0, 6-0; No. 2: Kelly Adams (PC) def. freshman Payton Beeler (WC), 6-0, 6-0; No. 3: Caitlin Carney (PC) def. sophomore Laura Kelly (WC), 6-3, 6-1; No. 4: Claire Horton (PC) def. sophomore Ellen Woolsey (WC), 6-0, 6-1; No. 5: Lena Carlson (PC) def. junior Laura Wiltshire (WC), 6-1, 6-1; No. 6: Nathalie DeLoach (PC) def. junior Jamie Striler (WC), 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).

•No. 1 doubles: Anderson/Adams (PC) def. Klutts/Beeler (WC), 8-1; No. 2: Carney/DeLoach (PC) def. Wiltshire/Kelly (WC), 8-4; No. 3: Lily Richards/Carlson (PC) def. Woolsey/Striler (WC), 8-1.

The Lady Blue Jays return home for a pair of conference matches this weekend. Westminster faces Blackburn (Illinois) College at 3 p.m. Saturday and Fontbonne University at 2 p.m. Sunday.
