Fulton's Pani wins three events in 9th/10th Grade Invitational

Freshman Kate Pani prevailed in the girls' 100 meters, high jump and long jump to guide the Lady Hornets at their own Fulton 9th/10th Grade Invitational on Tuesday.

Pani won the 100 in 12.39 seconds and triumphed in the high jump and long jump with respective leaps of 4 feet, 6 inches, and 14 feet, 4 inches.

In the boys' division, sophomore Tanner Steffen paced the Hornets with victories in the 110 hurdles (:18.11) and 300 hurdles (:45.97). Steffen also came in third in the triple jump at 34-5.

Other winners for the Fulton girls included Shawnee Hempfield in the 200 (:30.55), Sierra Bickel in the 100 hurdles (:17.59), freshman Adrea Shadbolt in the 300 hurdles (:52.42), and freshman Olivia Rice in the 800 (3:22).

Hempfield also took second in the triple jump (28-3) and third in the 100 (:13.91), while Bickel placed third in the long jump (12-6). Shadbolt also finished third in the 100 hurdles (:19.06).

Freshman Tabitha York came in second in both the 200 (:31.77) and 800 (3:36), while freshman Danielle Bezler was second in the discus (48-5). Sophomore Mariah Bolasina took third in the triple jump (24-7).

Also winning events for the Fulton boys were sophomore Jared Eliuk in the 400 (:53.82), freshman Mason Gaines in the 1,600 (5:03), sophomore Chaz Ballard in the 3,200 (11:57), the 1,600 relay (3:50.57) of Eliuk, freshman Ammod Davis, sophomore Brandon Dews and Steffen, and the 3,200 relay (9:20) of Gaines, freshman Gabe Luebbert, Ballard and freshman Cameron Peterson.

Davis also finished second in both the 100 (:11.5) and 200 (:24.19), while Dews placed third in both the 800 (2:23.97) and 1,600 (5:05). Freshman David Fague took third in the high jump (5-2).

Other teams competing in the non-scoring meet were Kingdom Christian Academy, Christian Fellowship and Centralia.
