Fulton man arrested after gunshots destroy window at Fulton Graphics

Early Thursday morning, police responded to reports of gunshots near Nichols Street.

At approximately 1:35 a.m., multiple gunshots shattered a large glass window at Fulton Graphics.

There was no mention of fatalities or casualties in the police report, however the gunfire did damage the walls and some merchandise.

The police arrested Joseph Wayne Mitchell, 22, as a suspect in the matter. According to a release from the Fulton Police Department, Mitchell was located near the area with a firearm, marijuana and other evidence linking him to the shooting.

While being arrested, Mitchell allegedly assaulted a police officer, the release stated.

Mitchell was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon, first degree property damage, assault on law enforcement and possession of marijuana. But, the investigation is on going and further charges could be pending, according to the report.

Tara Gall with Fulton Graphics said in an email that the business is still "open and fully functioning."

Mitchell was taken to the Callaway County Jail on $25,500 bond.

In 2011, Mitchell was incarcerated after pleading guilty for speeding more than 20 MPH over the speed limit, according to online court records. Court records also show he was charged with misdemeanor offenses of second-degree property damage and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana.
