South Callaway's Hager wins pole vault at Westran meet

Sophomore Bennett Hager cleared a height of 12 feet, 6 inches to win the boys' pole vault for the Bulldogs at the Westran Open on Monday.

Hager posted the only win for both the South Callaway boys' and girls' squads.

Junior Brandon Ward earned second place in the high jump with a leap of 5-4. Senior Phillip Norris finished third in the 3,200 meters in 13 minutes, 9.4 seconds, and collected fourth place in the discus with a throw of 107-3.

Senior Dylan Hare garnered fifth-place showings in both the shot put (37-8) and long jump (17-3). Senior Caleb Sconce finished fifth in the triple jump at 36-7.

Ward, Hare, Sconce and freshman Jared Stieferman claimed fourth in the 1,600 relay in 4:08.12. Norris and Stieferman joined freshmen Austin Clubb and Nick Rodriguez to take fourth in the 3,200 relay in 10:28.49.

Freshman Adrian Mann clocked a second-place time of 1:03.36 in the girls' 400. Senior Kailey Brooks also came in second in the 300 hurdles in :54.31.

Freshman Elli Luebbert was fourth in the 3,200 in 15:29.18. Junior Dariyn Finney (6:40.62) and freshman Greta Cross (7:07) claimed fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the 1,600.

Brooks, junior Haley Pate and freshmen Josie Mealy and Ashley Potter earned second in the 1,600 relay in 4:53.95. Brooks, Potter, Pate and freshman Kaci Jordan grabbed third in the 400 relay in :56.18.

South Callaway competes at the Fayette Relays at 4 p.m. Thursday.
