North Callaway thumps Mark Twain in five-inning EMO win

The Ladybirds erupted for a season-high 18 hits in cruising to a 13-0 five-inning Eastern Missouri Conference win over the Lady Tigers on Tuesday.

North Callaway (16-3, 9-0 EMO) jumped on top with five runs in the top of the first. The Ladybirds added three more in the third, two in the fourth and finished with three in the fifth.

Junior third baseman Shannon Haley finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Junior left fielder Patri Eckert was also 4-for-4 with a run scored, while junior pitcher Madison Ausfahl was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Ausfahl (7-1) struck out five and walked two to secure the one-hit shutout.

Mark Twain (3-10, 2-6) had four errors.

"It was a good, slick victory," North Callaway head coach Brandi Thomsen said.

The Ladybirds will play at Bowling Green for the EMO regular-season crown at 5 p.m. Thursday.
