Ladybirds topple Lady Eagles in straight-set win

Junior setter Bailey Langworthy distributed 16 assists in North Callaway's 25-20, 25-13 victory over Missouri School for the Deaf on Tuesday night.

Langworthy added three digs, while junior middle hitter Destri Eichman posted a team-high 14 in that category.

Eichman added a kill for the Ladybirds (3-8). Junior middle hitter Bethany Bloss logged a team-high five kills and chipped in four digs.

"I liked how in the second set, we started a different starting six for the girls that haven't had a chance to play much," North Callaway head coach Amy Spence said. "Everyone who played contributed and that was my favorite part."

The Ladybirds improved to 2-10 with 25-17, 25-14 win in the JV game.

The Lady Eagles fell to Linn's junior varsity team 25-11, 25-16 and 25-15 on Monday.

Sophomores Cheyenne Dickerson and Avalon Saxton and freshman Tyra Rogers each posted a team-high three service points.

Saxton and sophomore Elizabeth Harrison each connected on 81 percent of their serve-receives, while completing 47 and 56 percent of their passes, respectively. Senior Joyla Ingram hit on 100 percent of her passes.

MSD hosts Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf at 9 a.m. Thursday.

North Callaway hosts Bowling Green in an Eastern Missouri Conference game at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
