Fulton falls to Boonville in NCMC road game

Junior first baseman Baileigh Horstmeier gave the Lady Hornets a first-inning lead, but they couldn't sustain it in falling to the Lady Pirates 8-1 in a North Central Missouri Conference contest on Tuesday.

Horstmeier slapped a one-out double to plate senior center fielder Haylee Ebersole, pushing Fulton to a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning.

Boonville grabbed the lead with three runs in the bottom of the first. They added one in the second, two more in the third and closed their day with two runs in the sixth.

Fulton (6-16, 3-8) collected just two more hits after the opening frame. Ebersole and freshman second baseman Zoe Hrabovsky were each 1-for-2, while Horstmeier and freshman third baseman Samantha Weber each finished 1-for-3.

Lady Hornets freshman Kendalyn Roesner struck out five in the complete-game loss. Roesner surrendered eight runs - six earned - on eight hits, while walking three.

Fulton closes out its regular season with an NCMC road clash against rival Mexico at 5 p.m. Thursday.
